WINE MAKING PROCESS
Vintry's Red Port is produced using the traditional method for Ruby Port. Fermentation is interrupted by the addition of grape spirit, resulting in a sweet, fortified wine. The grapes, including varieties like Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, are often traditionally foot-trodden in large vats called lagares. The wine is then aged for a short period, typically two to three years, in large oak vats before bottling. This process is designed to preserve the wine's youthful fruitiness and sweetness.
