ABOUT THIS WINE
The Gál Tibor Volcanic Kadarka 2022 is a red wine from the Eger region of Hungary, produced by Gál Tibor Winery. It is made from 100% Kadarka grapes, a varietal with historical significance in Hungary. The wine's name highlights the volcanic rhyolite tuff soil of Eger, which contributes to its distinct minerality. The winery was founded by Tibor Gál Sr. and is now managed by his son, Tibor Gál Jr., who focuses on modern viticulture while respecting tradition. The 2022 vintage benefited from a warm season, with an early harvest preserving freshness.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Gál Tibor Volcanic Kadarka 2022 is produced using hand-harvested Kadarka grapes, which are gently pressed. Maceration takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 15 days with regular pump-overs. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, is unfiltered and unfined, and uses minimal sulfur. It is then aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. The winery's approach focuses on reflecting the Eger terroir and is moving towards organic viticulture.
