ABOUT THIS WINE
The Black Chalk Wild Rose 2020 is a sparkling rosé from Hampshire, England. This 2020 vintage is notable as the first wine produced entirely from Black Chalk's own vineyards and within their newly built winery, signifying a complete estate-grown production. The producer, Black Chalk Wine, was established in 2018 by the Leadley family, with Jacob Leadley serving as the winemaker. The vineyards are situated in the Test Valley on chalk-rich soil, a terroir known for contributing to wine structure and minerality. The 2020 vintage is characterized as a rich year that allowed for the development of complex fruit characteristics in the wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Black Chalk Wild Rose 2020 is produced using the traditional method for sparkling wine. The blend comprises Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir. Following primary fermentation, the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle to create its effervescence. It is aged on lees for a minimum of 18 months, a process that imparts texture and complexity, before being aged for a further 6 months post-disgorgement prior to release. The 2020 vintage was the first to be produced entirely from the estate's own vineyards and within their newly built winery.
