ABOUT THIS WINE
Wineslut Red is a playful, unstuffy project born in the Santa Barbara County wine scene. Created by Amy Christine, MW (one of the few American women to hold the Master of Wine title) and her husband Peter Hunken of Holus Bolus, the brand was conceived during a tasting session with an elite local winemaker. Discovering an exceptional, surplus batch of wine, Amy purchased the inventory on the spot to launch an independent blending project. Operating in the spirit of traditional European négociants, she sources premium, small-batch components from her community of top-tier growers to craft wines that are approachable, pleasurable, and designed to be enjoyed without pretension.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2022 vintage of Wineslut Red is a unique, vintage-specific blend of equal parts Malbec and Mourvèdre. The grapes are sustainably and organically farmed across premium vineyard sites in Santa Barbara County and hand-harvested at optimal freshness. In the cellar, the juice undergoes traditional alcoholic fermentation. To soften the robust skins of both Malbec and Mourvèdre and build mid-palate roundness, the wine is aged for 8 months in old, neutral French oak barrels. This low-intervention approach imparts a smooth, rounded texture while preserving the vibrant, primary fruit profile without the influence of heavy new oak flavors.
