ABOUT THIS WINE
The Yiannoudi 2020 from K & E Makarouna Ltd is a red wine made from 100% Yiannoudi, an indigenous Cypriot grape. The wine hails from the PGI Lemesos region of Cyprus. K & E Makarouna Ltd is a family winery with a four-generation history in viticulture, established in 2016 by Theodoros Makarounas, who champions indigenous grapes and organic farming from their own vineyards. The Yiannoudi grape itself is experiencing a revival, making this wine a representation of ancient Cypriot winemaking traditions and the unique terroir of the island.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Yiannoudi 2020 undergoes gentle crushing followed by spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out in tank. The wine is then aged for 10 months in used 300-liter French oak barrels. Grapes are harvested in September. K & E Makarouna Ltd employs organic viticulture practices.
