ABOUT THIS WINE
The Zind wine from Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is a white wine from Alsace, France, classified as Vin de France - Vin de Table. This classification arises from Alsace AOC regulations that do not permit Chardonnay in its wines. The grapes are cultivated in the cooler sections of the Clos Windsbuhl vineyard, which is characterized by shell-limestone soils. This vineyard site is known for imparting exceptional structure and aging potential to the wines. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is a well-established producer in Alsace, with a history stretching back centuries, and is recognized for its dedication to quality and biodynamic farming practices. The wine is a blend primarily of Chardonnay and Auxerrois, with some sources also indicating the presence of Pinot Gris.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Zind begins with the gentle pressing of the grapes. The resulting must is then fermented in large, old oak foudres. The high acidity levels characteristic of the 2021 vintage necessitated an extended fermentation period. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes an extended aging process on its full lees, also within large, old oak foudres. This technique is employed to develop the wine's texture and complexity.
