ABOUT THIS WINE
Zisola 2020 is a red wine from the Sicilia Noto Rosso DOC, produced by Marchesi Mazzei using 100% Nero d'Avola grapes. The Marchesi Mazzei family, with a long history in Tuscan winemaking, established the Zisola estate in southeastern Sicily near Noto. The vineyards are situated at approximately 130 meters above sea level on calcareous soils, benefiting from a maritime-influenced climate. The estate focuses on expressing the unique Sicilian terroir and its indigenous grape varieties. The wine is a testament to this approach, highlighting the character of Nero d'Avola from this specific region.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Zisola 2020 begins with hand-harvested Nero d'Avola grapes picked in late September. The grapes are fermented and macerated for 14-16 days at controlled temperatures of 26-28°C. After maceration, the wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, with one-third of the barrels being new. This approach aims to extract color and flavor while developing complexity and structure.
